Letters from James W. Davidson to Miles Greenwood, 1931, 1938-1945. The early letters were written from Oamaru and Wellington in New Zealand. From October 1938 onwards they were mostly written from Cambridge, where Davidson was a student and later fellow at St John's College. The letters refer to the writing of his doctoral thesis, research, books, social life at Cambridge and travels in England. Professor of Pacific History, Institute of Advanced Studies A.N.U. 1950-1973, eminent Pacific historian, and constitutional adviser to Papua New Guinea, Nauru, Western Samoa, American Micronesia and the Cook Islands.
